The Data Fluencies program at SSRC is very happy to announce that we have launched the application portal for this summer’s Research Development Workshop, which will focus on the theme of “Drilling Down to the Data: Navigating Data Politics at the Heart of AI Policy.” Amba Kak<https://ainowinstitute.org/author/amba-kak>, Executive Director of the AI Now Institute, and Deborah Raji<https://foundation.mozilla.org/en/blog/mozilla-welcomes-two-new-fellows-trustworthy-ai/>, Fellow at the Mozilla Foundation, will be serving as our workshop co-chairs. Applications are due April 23 by midnight EDT.


The workshop will take place at the SSRC offices in Brooklyn, NYC on July 22-23.  We welcome applications from across various fields and practices, including the arts, the social sciences, the humanities, legal studies, journalism, community organizing, and data and computer science. Early-career and underrepresented scholars are particularly encouraged to apply!
