Other academic associations have issued solidarity statements earlier on. In the current climate it is increasingly and incredibly hard and unsafe to speak up for Gaza and Palestine, in academia in particular 
As AoiRs we will have already noticed the huge role played by digital technologies in this , from platform censorship to fake news to the use of AI in warfare, so it's not just a little relevant, it is as relevant as it gets, professionally and humanly
