Music researchers wanted for online focus group on web data training needs.

Dear all,

We hope this message finds you well. We are seeking expert advice from music researchers at all career stages about their training needs around using web data for their music research, as part of the Accelerating embedded computational analysis of Web data about music in UK universities project, led by a research team at Durham University and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AH/X007316/1).

Thus, we are inviting music researchers to take part in a 1-hour online focus group session on Zoom, between 4th and 11th July, to discuss their needs and potential training opportunities which would benefit them as a music researcher wanting to work with web data about music. This study has received approval from the Department of Computer Science Ethics Committee at Durham University (COMP-2023-05-25T16_23_51). The feedback from the focus group session will contribute to the design of a free training programme in digital skills tailored specifically for music researchers working with web data, which contributors will have the opportunity to sign up for later this year.

What is web data about music?
Web data about music refers to any type of music-related information that is available online, such as music streaming data, social media data, artist websites, music blogs, images related to music-making (e.g., images of scores), multimedia (e.g., songs and music videos), and existing open datasets of web data about music, to name a few.
